Set Vehicle Hose Requirements

Hose Requirements let you set a par level for each vehicle — how many of each hose type (coupling, material, diameter, and optionally length) should be on board when fully stowed. StationOne compares this against the hoses currently assigned to the vehicle and flags any shortfall, both on the vehicle page and in the Hose Inventory Report.

  • Brigade admin role (or higher) for the vehicle’s unit — see Permissions below
  • Hoses already created in your hose register (see Create a Hose)
  1. Click Vehicles in the main navigation
  2. Select the vehicle
  3. Click the Hoses tab
  1. Scroll to the Hose Requirements section

  2. Under Add a hose requirement, fill in:

    Coupling and Material

    • Only options allowed for the vehicle’s unit are offered

    Diameter (mm)

    Length (m) (optional)

    • Leave blank to match hoses of that type at any length — useful if your brigade doesn’t track hose lengths separately, or a requirement should be satisfied regardless of length
    • Set a value to require hoses of that exact length

    Quantity

    • How many of this hose type should be on the vehicle
  3. Click Add Requirement

A requirement can’t duplicate an existing coupling/material/diameter/length combination on the same vehicle — add quantity to the existing row instead.

Each requirement row shows On Vehicle as a count against the required quantity (e.g. 2 / 3), coloured red if short and green if met. The count is based on hoses currently assigned to the vehicle:

  • If the requirement specifies a length, only in-service hoses of that exact coupling/material/diameter/length count toward it
  • If the requirement is any length, all in-service hoses matching the coupling/material/diameter count toward it, regardless of length

The vehicle’s Hoses tab badge (on the vehicle detail page’s tab bar) shows the total number of hoses short across all requirements when there’s a deficit, replacing the normal in-service hose count until the deficit is cleared.

  • To change the required quantity, update the number in the Required Qty field and click Save
  • To remove a requirement entirely, click Remove next to it and confirm

Coupling, material, diameter, and length can’t be edited on an existing requirement — remove it and add a new one instead.

The Hose Inventory Report includes a Vehicle Hose Requirements section summarising every vehicle with requirements configured:

  1. Click Hoses in the main navigation
  2. Click More ActionsView Analytics
  3. Scroll to Vehicle Hose Requirements

For each requirement below par, the report distinguishes:

  • Coverable by moving unit stock — the vehicle is short, but matching hoses are sitting unallocated at the unit and could be moved across (see Manage Hose Locations)
  • True shortfall (needs purchasing) — the vehicle is short and there isn’t enough spare stock at the unit to cover it, across any vehicle’s deficit

This breakdown is also included in the CSV export from the Hose Reports page.

Who can add, edit, or remove hose requirements on a vehicle follows the same rule as other hose management on that vehicle:

  • Super admins and organisation admins (for vehicles in their organisation) can manage any vehicle’s requirements
  • Region, district, and group admins can manage requirements on vehicles within their hierarchy
  • Brigade admins can manage requirements on vehicles in their own unit

Everyone else with view access to the vehicle (including a unit currently borrowing it) sees requirements and the On Vehicle count read-only.
