Station Dashboard
The Station Dashboard is a configurable, full-screen display designed to run on a TV or monitor at the station. It automatically rotates through a set of screens — events and training, duty crew, outstanding inspections, open public issues, station info, and the hose board — so anyone walking past can see what’s current without logging in.
It uses a unique, unauthenticated URL (like the Check-In Kiosk), so it’s meant to run on a shared device rather than being browsed by individual members. This is different from the Station Portal, which is a public page intended for community members and visitors to browse on their own devices.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Brigade admin or organisation admin role
Enabling the Dashboard
Section titled “Enabling the Dashboard”1. Open Brigade Settings
Section titled “1. Open Brigade Settings”- Log in to StationOne
- Navigate to Brigade Settings
- Find the Station Dashboard section
2. Turn On the Dashboard
Section titled “2. Turn On the Dashboard”Click the Enable toggle next to Station Dashboard. This reveals the dashboard URL, screen toggles, rotation interval, and weather settings.
3. Open the Dashboard URL
Section titled “3. Open the Dashboard URL”- Copy the Dashboard URL (or click Open to view it in a new tab)
- Open the URL on the station TV or monitor
- Leave the browser in full-screen mode
https://app.stationone.com.au/public/station_dashboard/[unique-token]The page refreshes every 5 minutes so new data appears automatically without a manual reload.
Regenerating the Dashboard URL
Section titled “Regenerating the Dashboard URL”If the URL has been shared unintentionally:
- Navigate to Brigade Settings → Station Dashboard
- Click Regenerate URL
- Confirm when prompted
The old URL stops working immediately and any device displaying it will need the new link.
Active Screens
Section titled “Active Screens”Each screen can be toggled on or off independently. Only enabled screens are included in the rotation.
| Screen | Shows |
|---|---|
| Events & Training | Upcoming events and training sessions |
| Duty Crew | Current duty crew, duty officer, and task list |
| Outstanding Inspections | Overdue and due-soon inspection schedules, plus vehicle status |
| Open Public Actions | Open actions marked visible on the public brigade portal |
| Station Info | Station Portal QR code, brigade details, and local weather |
| Hose Board | Hose counts by area and hoses due for testing |
To toggle a screen, click its switch under Active Screens in the Station Dashboard settings. Changes take effect immediately — the dashboard picks them up on its next refresh.
Events & Training
Section titled “Events & Training”Splits into two columns: upcoming events (excluding invite-only events) and upcoming training sessions. Requires the Training module to be enabled for training to appear.
Duty Crew
Section titled “Duty Crew”Shows the currently active duty crew (from the unit’s active duty crew schedule, or the first active crew if no schedule is running), its task list with completion status, and members on duty with the duty lead highlighted. Requires the Duty Crews module.
Outstanding Inspections
Section titled “Outstanding Inspections”Three columns: overdue inspection schedules, schedules due within the unit’s overdue warning window, and a live vehicle status list (operational or out of service). Requires the Inspections module.
Open Public Actions
Section titled “Open Public Actions”Displays open actions that have been marked visible on the public brigade portal, ordered by severity then most recently flagged. This screen reflects the same Public Issues visibility setting used on the Station Portal — see Manage Actions → Enable Public Issues and Public Action Visibility for how actions get marked public. Nothing extra needs to be configured here; any action already public on the portal appears on this screen too.
Station Info
Section titled “Station Info”Shows the Station Portal’s QR code (for anyone wanting to scan it and browse the portal on their own device) alongside the brigade name, address, organisation, and — if configured — local weather. The QR code only appears if the Station Portal is enabled.
See Configuring Weather below to add weather to this screen.
Hose Board
Section titled “Hose Board”Shows total hose count with a breakdown by allocation area (vehicle or storage location), plus a grid of hoses due for testing in the next 30 days, sorted soonest-first and flagged when overdue. Requires the Hoses module.
Screen Rotation Interval
Section titled “Screen Rotation Interval”Controls how long each active screen is displayed before rotating to the next.
- Navigate to Brigade Settings → Station Dashboard
- Under Screen Rotation Interval, choose 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes
- The change is saved automatically and applies on the dashboard’s next refresh
Configuring Weather
Section titled “Configuring Weather”The Station Info screen can show local weather, sourced from OpenWeatherMap.
- Sign up for a free OpenWeatherMap account and generate an API key
- Navigate to Brigade Settings → Station Dashboard
- Under Weather (Station Info screen), enter your API Key
- Enter a Location — a city name works best, optionally with a country code (e.g.
Melbourne,AU) - Click Save Weather Settings
The API key is stored encrypted. Once both an API key and location are saved, weather data is fetched and cached for 10 minutes at a time. If the Station Info screen is enabled but weather isn’t configured (or the API request fails), the screen still shows the QR code and brigade details without the weather panel.
To update the location without changing the API key, leave the API Key field blank — only the location is updated. To rotate the API key, enter a new one.
Duty Officer Banner
Section titled “Duty Officer Banner”If Duty Officer is configured for the unit, the current duty officer’s name (and phone number, if available) is shown in the dashboard header on every screen, not just the Duty Crew screen.
Disabling the Dashboard
Section titled “Disabling the Dashboard”- Navigate to Brigade Settings → Station Dashboard
- Click the Enable toggle to turn it off
- The dashboard URL stops working immediately
You can re-enable at any time. The same URL token is reused unless you have regenerated it.
Tips for Station Deployment
Section titled “Tips for Station Deployment”- TV or monitor: Use a browser on an attached device (smart TV browser, Chromecast with a browser tab, mini PC, or old laptop) and open the dashboard URL in full-screen mode.
- Keep it awake: Disable screen-saver/sleep settings on the device driving the display so the dashboard stays visible continuously.
- Multiple screens off: If you only want one or two screens shown (e.g. just Duty Crew and Station Info), disable the rest — the rotation only cycles through enabled screens, and with a single screen enabled it simply stays on that screen.
