Places of Interest

Places of Interest (POIs) allow your brigade to record locations that are operationally significant — such as known security risks, crime target sites, hazardous areas, or other safety concerns — independently of a full pre-plan. They appear alongside pre-plans in the Pre-Plans module and can be pinned on a map.

  • Brigade admin or organisation admin role
  • Pre-Plans module enabled for your unit
  1. Navigate to Pre-Plans in the sidebar
  2. Click New Place of Interest
  3. Fill in the details:

Name (required)

  • A clear, descriptive name for the location (e.g. “Derelict warehouse — arson risk”)

Address

  • The street address of the location
  • Used to display the record in the list and for reference

Category

  • Choose the category that best describes the location:
CategoryUse
SecurityLocations posing a security risk to persons or property
SafetyLocations with safety concerns relevant to response
Crime TargetSites that are known or likely crime targets
HazardLocations with environmental or operational hazards
OtherAny other location of operational interest

Notes

  • Free-text field for additional context, history, or operational guidance

Contact Name / Contact Phone

  • An optional contact person associated with the location

Latitude / Longitude

  • GPS coordinates to pin the location on the map
  • If entered, the location will display a map on its detail page
  1. Click Create Place of Interest

From the Pre-Plans list, click any POI row (marked with a POI badge) to open its detail page.

The detail page shows:

  • Category and status badges
  • Notes and contact details
  • A map centred on the location (if coordinates are set)
  • Archive / restore and delete actions
  1. Open the Place of Interest detail page
  2. Click Edit
  3. Update the relevant fields
  4. Click Update Place of Interest

Organisation admins and super admins can reassign a POI to a different unit. Brigade admins can edit all other fields for POIs belonging to their unit.

Archiving removes a POI from active views without deleting the record.

To archive:

  1. Open the Place of Interest detail page
  2. Click Archive
  3. Confirm the action

To restore:

  1. Open the archived Place of Interest
  2. Click Restore

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

  1. Open the Place of Interest detail page
  2. Click Delete
  3. Confirm the deletion

Use a Place of Interest for locations that don’t warrant a full pre-plan but are still worth recording — transient risks, watch-listed properties, or locations your brigade monitors informally. Use a Pre-Plan for buildings that require detailed operational information such as building dimensions, hazmat records, and service isolation points.

If you don’t have coordinates on hand, you can find them using Google Maps:

  1. Right-click the location on the map
  2. Select the coordinates shown at the top of the context menu to copy them
  3. Paste the latitude and longitude into the respective fields

Each category displays with a distinct colour badge in the list view, making it easy to scan for specific types of concern at a glance.
